Heads up

I wonder if State Farm covers this?

From Yahoo! and AP:

WASHINGTON - The U.S. military is developing contingency plans to deal with the possibility that a large spy satellite expected to fall to Earth in late February or early March could hit North America.
also...
He added, "As it looks like it might re-enter into the North American area," then the U.S. military along with the Homeland Security Department and the Federal Emergency Management Agency will either have to deal with the impact or assist Canadian or Mexican authorities.

day off

21 Jan, 2008 | mnwybs |
Enjoying the day off, thank you MLK jr.  I suppose I should be celebrating diversity somewhere, but I'm just hanging out watching some Super Bowl reruns on the NFL Network.  The Redskins are whoopin' up on Denver in SB XXII.  (That's 22, for those of you who don't speak Roman.)

Kind of odd how high-pitched Al Michael's voice sounds from 1988.

"Call me" button

21 Jan, 2008 | mnwybs |
I added a Call me button on the right-hand side bar.  Click on it, enter your name and number - your phone will ring, then my phone will ring.  And who knows what happens after that.  Cool, eh?  I love technology just for technology sake!

Being a quasi-gearhead, I will be checking out Autoblog as they cover the show.

Chub-worthy so far:

Then there's Fugsville:

Come see me eat nipples.....

... just watch it.

New design

13 Jan, 2008 | mnwybs |
BTW, new design.  Hope you dig it.  Stole it from the nucleus skins website.  Apparently it's from some Russian technology blog.  Probably explains the red stars everywhere.  Da.

Speedtest pt 2

13 Jan, 2008 | mnwybs |
We've since moved to a new house and with a new router, here are my current speed test results:

A big difference since the last time.  (dl=2406kb/s ul=359kb/s)  I'm pretty sure it's the router.  The new one is 802.11g, last test was on an 802.11b router.

Blogging resumes

Yep.  Nobody reading it, but it's not about them it's about ...eh, something or other.  Enjoy.

Blogging on hold

08 Feb, 2007 | mnwybs |
Well, you'll notice from the lack of activity that blogging has been extremely light as of late.  It turns out, I just don't have that much to say about anything that interests anyone besides myself.  I don't even think the wife reads my blog.  Until things get more interesting around here, blogging will remain "extremely light."

Rare stamp used to mail absentee ballot

11 Nov, 2006 | mnwybs | Comments - 0 -
MIAMI (Reuters) - A Florida voter may have unwittingly lost hundreds of thousands of dollars by using an extremely rare stamp to mail an absentee ballot in Tuesday's congressional election, a government official said on Friday.

I saw the picture of this stamp and immediately recognized it as the same stamp used in the movie Brewster's Millions with Richard Pryor.  It's a little hard to believe this is a coincidence.

Speedtest.net

I found a new bandwidth test website that is pretty cool.  Flash based, apparently, and tests not only download speed but also upload speed.  Here are my results:

Not too bad.  Tested on a laptop, wirelessly through a 802.11b router.

Also, I added a link on the bottom right of the page if you care to test your own.
